Prior to founding the firm in 1998, he served in both national and regional senior development roles with the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor Foundation, a national Catholic health care organization with facilities in six states. One of his most meaningful experiences was serving as the lead adjunct consultant in fundraising for US AID in a three year partnership with several recovering cities in Croatia. David is a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP), a designation offered by The American College. He is a member of the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP), the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), and the National Committee on Planned Giving (NCPG). He received his bachelors of arts degree in English from the University of Pittsburgh, and his master of science degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee.

Prior to joining DVA, Ms. Kaufman has held Development positions with cultural arts organizations in Santa Fe, New Mexico (Cornerstones Community Partnerships), Chicago (Chicago Humanities Festival), and a social service organization (St. Stephen’s Community House) in Columbus, Ohio serving as Development Director. She brings to DVA a wide-range of skills that include extensive experience in writing grant proposals, writing analytical reports, conducting research and creating copy for marketing/ communication materials.
Ms. Kaufman holds a Masters of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts from St. John's College, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from The Ohio State University, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication from Bowling Green State University.
He moved on to accept positions with Wexner Heritage Village and Recreation Unlimited s Vice President of Development. Ted's professional focus has been capital and endowment campaigns. He has also consulted with a wide variety of organizations including the Melton Center at Ohio State University and the Economic Community Development Institute. Ted has been an active board member with a wide variety of community organizations. Ted attended Miami University and graduated from The Ohio State University where he also received a management certificate. Melanie Boyd, Senior Counsel, on a limited basis Melanie provides support for campaign communication materials, case for support documents, and special reports. She formerly served as David Valinsky Associates Managing Director for seven years, focusing on capital campaign management and feasibility study development. She was the lead staff member with many clients, including The Dayton Opera and Fayette Memorial Hospital. She is the co-author of The Mercifully Brief, Real World Guide to Raising Money Through Bequests. We are proud to announce that she is currently the Director of Development for the Dayton Philharmonic. Prior to joining DVA, Tim served as Senior Campaign Manager for the United Way of Central Ohio and as CEO for the United Way of Allen County, Indiana; East Central Iowa; and Aurora, Illinois. Tim received an M.S. in social work from Catholic University of America, Washington D.C., and a B.A. from Stonehill College, Northeastern MA. |

, Director of Communication and Donor Management Systems, brings strong creative and problem-solving skills based on more than ten years of experience in donor management and database administration. She played key roles with both the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor and Mercy Foundations where she was responsible for creating individualized donor-management programs for healthcare facilities and social service agencies. In addition, she is well-versed in charitable planned giving and annual development programs.

. Ted Fireman has been associated with David Valinsky Associates since 1999 when he served as one of our full-time campaign consultants. With David Valinsky Associates he co-directed campaigns for the YMCA of Central Ohio, Hilliard and Gahanna YMCAs, J. Ashburn Jr. Youth Center and Columbus JCC.
